To use an address as the starting point of your navigation instead of your current location:

  1. Open the WeGo app and search for a destination in the search bar.
  2. Click on ‘Directions’.
  3. The app will display an overview of your route in the map.
  4. On the lower bar you’ll see ‘Your location’ as the starting point for this route.
  5. If you click on ‘Your location’, you can choose a different starting point (either from your search history or by typing a new address/POI name)
  6. The maps will show a new route using the new starting point.

In order to look up DMS coordinates on HERE WeGo Maps, please leave a space for the degree symbol, and type the rest of the information as listed in the ‘Where to’ field.

For example, if you’d like to find N 52° 31’ 51.096”, E13° 23’ 4.884”

Simply type in N52 31’51.096, E13 23’4.884

Are you out and want to tell your friends where to meet you? In the map, tap on the location symbol in the bottom right to pinpoint your exact location. Hold down on location marker and the lower bar will then show the address. Next to ‘directions’, tap on the share icon and select how you’d like the information to be sent.

To add stops to your route, you can follow two different paths.

The first one is by using the initial route planner of WeGo before starting the navigation:

  1. Open the WeGo app
  2. Select your final destination
  3. Calculate your car, bike or pedestrian route
  4. Click on the three lines icon on the right side of the starting point/destination field
  5. Add one or more stops to your route and arrange them according to your preferences
  6. Start your navigation with WeGo and go through all the stops you’ve added

The second option is to add a stop to your route after the navigation has already started:

  1. Open the WeGo app
  2. Enter your destination and click on ‘Directions’
  3. Start the navigation by clicking on the blue arrow of one of the alternative routes
  4. Drag the bottom navigation bar up to expand the menu
  5. These options will become available: ‘Search’, ‘Gas’, ‘Parking’, ‘Restaurants’ and ‘Toilets’
  6. See available waypoints by clicking on the relevant icon, or select ‘Search’ to add a specific address
  7. You can search for these places either along your route or at a destination
  8. Select your choice of waypoint from the list or map and click on ‘Add stop’
  9. The stop is now added to your route

To enable a 2D (North up) navigation mode while using WeGo, please make sure to click on the compass symbol in the top right corner of the map (this icon is shown when there’s active guidance). Once you click on the compass icon, the map will switch to 2D/North up mode. If you click on it again, it will go back to the standard 3D maps view.

HERE WeGo relies on your smartphone’s Operating System (Android or iOS) capabilities to produce voice commands.

It means that a text-to-speech (TTS) engine of your smartphone should be enabled and configured for WeGo to produce voice commands for navigation. This also includes languages the TTS engine supports: please make sure that the desired language pack is loaded in your system TTS. Usually, text-to-speech systems offer a variety of voices and settings (male/female, low/high pitch, speed of narration), so please set it up for your convenience using your smartphone’s system settings. Please note that available settings depend on the smartphone model and operating system.

If a language you need is not supported by the TTS engine in use, you can try and install external TTS engines from app stores or their vendors’ site.

Below you can see the list of languages supported by HERE WeGo. If a language from this list is not available in WeGo app settings, configure your smartphone’s text-to-speech engine or use a different engine.

Arabic, Bengali (India), Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (China), Chinese (Taiwan), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English (United Kingdom), English (United States), Finnish, French, French (Canada), German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi (India), Hungarian, Indonesian (Bahasa), Italian, Japanese, Kannada (India), Korean, Malayalam (India), Norwegian (Bokmål), Persian (Farsi), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Serbian [Latin], Slovak, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain), Swedish, Telugu (India), Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.

Rest Areas are public facilities available on highways or motorways where drivers can take a break. You can usually find gas stations, restrooms and/or places to buy food in these areas.

If you open the WeGo app, drag up the bottom bar and select ‘Settings’, you’ll find a toggle switch for the ‘Rest Areas’ functionality. Once turned on, the app will start showing the rest areas available on your way (if any), especially when you’re driving on highways.

When the app shows the rest area icon, you can click on it and add it as a stop on your route.

To use Android Auto, open the app in your phone and connect it to the car.

Make sure to set a destination and start the navigation using the app. The Android Auto menu on the left side will automatically disappear and the information in the screen will be focused on your trip.

Before starting the navigation, you can also click on the ‘Settings’ to perform other actions, such as enabling/disabling the voice guidance, changing the route preferences or turning on the speed limit alerts.

Note: Some features are not yet compatible with Android Auto (ie, adding stops to your route or changing the route preferences after the navigation already started). Our teams are aware of it and are working on improvements for the future.

If HERE WeGo was not downloaded directly from the Google PlayStore, the app will not appear in Android Auto. For additional assistance or questions, please reach out to us at appsupport@here.com.

HERE WeGo uses GPS to work and your phone might deplete more of your battery while you’re actively navigating. (This is quite common with apps that depend on your phone settings.) If you feel that our app consumes too much of your battery life, we’d recommend that you check your phone’s battery settings and adapt it according to your usage. Please remember that when battery optimization is activated, the accuracy of your position in the app may be affected or the app may run slowly or taking longer to load.

If you are navigating in online mode and the internet connection is lost, the app will continue trying to connect with the internet. If the app fails to reconnect to the internet, stop your current navigation and start a new one in offline mode.

To use the offline navigation of WeGo, switch to offline mode using the toggle in the app’s settings. If the toggle is off, the offline navigation won’t work as expected.

It’s also important to make sure you previously downloaded the offline maps of the regions you’d like to navigate through.

For us to provide accurate location info, you should be outdoors and your permissions for access location must be turned on. These phone settings might help to improve the location’s accuracy:

  • Turn on the WiFi setting
  • Make sure ‘Power Saving Mode’ is off. Remove battery optimization.
  • Because the app depends on GPS and other technologies, your current location might vary by a couple of meters. The accuracy tends to get better the longer you use the app.

We recommend reinstalling the app on your phone if none of the steps above helped.

If you’ve followed the above steps but the issues with positioning persist, please write an email to appsupport@here.com and make sure to add as many details (and/or videos) as possible so our team can help you to the best of their abilities.

While using the WeGo app with your location/GPS disabled has its limitations, it is still possible to browse maps, search for locations, and plan routes (by manually entering your current location). Enabling GPS, however, will allow the app to perform at its best, and you will be able to pinpoint your current location, use real-time navigation and more accurately see nearby locations.

Text-to-speech (TTS) is a feature that lets your device read written text out loud to you. The TTS engine of your smartphone should be enabled and configured for WeGo to produce voice commands for navigation.

Usually, text-to-speech systems offer a variety of voices and settings (male/female, low/high pitch, speed of narration), and the voice enabled from your phone’s TTS settings (outside the WeGo app) will be used for voice guidance in WeGo. Speech generation quality and the spectrum of supported languages in phone platforms from various vendors may differ a lot, so please experiment and choose the one that satisfies your needs.

Please note, as well, that the name of the feature can vary by OS.

  • Samsung - Samsung calls its text-to-speech feature “Samsung Text-to-Speech Engine”, available in the accessibility settings. Some Samsung devices may also use Google Text-to-Speech.
  • Google - Google calls their text-to-speech feature “Google Text-to-Speech.”
  • Huawei - Huawei generally uses Google’s text-to-speech engine on its devices, which is called “Google Text-to-Speech”. However, for Huawei-specific features, it might refer to text-to-speech as part of its “Huawei Assistant” services or accessibility features.
  • Apple - Apple refers to its text-to-speech feature as “VoiceOver” for accessibility, and “Speak Screen” or “Speak Selection” for general use.

In the WeGo app, scroll down to settings, tap on voice options, and from there you can complete your voice guidance set up. From this menu, you can also see where to access TTS settings in your phone.

You can also turn it off in case you’d like to personalize it differently. The app will then display ‘Theme’ and ‘Map view’ as two subcategories

In ‘Theme’, select your preferences for the app’s UI color

In ‘Map view’, select your preference for the map’s theme

Select ‘Auto’ for both options if you’d like to view changes according to sunrise and sunset

To change the Units used in WeGo:

  1. Open the WeGo app
  2. Drag up the bottom bar to expand the menu
  3. Click on ‘Settings’ and then on ‘Units’
